This policy describes how we collect, process, retain, and disclose personal data about you when providing services (our “Services”) to you through suedehome.com (the “Site”) and any associated websites, portals, software, browser extensions, content, features, functionality, tools, and services that we make available from time to time and link to this policy (collectively, the "Platform") and our practices for using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies only to information we collect:

  • Through the Platform;

  • In communications (including email, text, chat, and other electronic messages) between you and us on the Platform or in connection with the Services.

It does not apply to information collected by:

  • Us offline or through any other means, including on any other website operated by Suede or any third party, including our affiliates and subsidiaries that does not link to this policy; or
  • Any third party, including our affiliates and subsidiaries, including through any application or content (including advertising) that may link to or be accessible from or through the Platform or in connection with the Services.

We may provide additional or different privacy policies that are specific to certain features, services, or activities.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we treat it. By using the Platform, interacting with our Services, or providing us with your information, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to our Privacy Policy). Your continued use of the Platform or the Services after we make changes as described here is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.

Children’s and Minors’ Data

Our Services are not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from, children under the age of 18. If we learn we have collected or received personal data from a child under 18 years old without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.

  • Approximate location and security information, including city, region, and country derived from an IP address; IP addresses recorded at login, for administrative actions, and when agreements are accepted; and daily rotating hashed IP information used for affiliate-click fraud prevention. We do not collect precise device geolocation.

We also collect:

For example, we may aggregate personal data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific Services feature.
  • Technical information. Technical information includes information about your internet connection and usage details about your interactions with the Services, such as clickstream information to, through, and from our Services (including date and time), products that you view or search for; page response times, download errors, length of your visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), or methods used to browse away from a page.

How We Collect Your Personal and Other Data

You Provide Information to Us

We collect information about you when you interact with our Services, such as when you create or update an account, place an order, subscribe, or make a purchase/reservation/request, participate in surveys, sweepstakes, contests, or promotions, or create, upload, or post content to the Services, including reviews, media such as photos, videos, or audio recordings.

From Designers

We may receive personal data from Designers who use the Platform in connection with projects, including client contact information, delivery addresses, project details, communications, and other information Designers submit to facilitate the Services.

Automatically Through Our Services

As you navigate through and interact with our Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect information that may include personal data, including usage details, IP addresses, approximate location derived from IP addresses, operating system, browser type, device and request information, and information collected through cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, web beacons, session-replay technologies, and similar technologies. Depending on the page or feature, this may include page views, clicks, referral and campaign information, product and transaction events, error and performance data, and interactions with Platform features.

Some technologies used on our public marketing pages, including the Meta Pixel, may allow the applicable provider to collect information about your activity on the Platform and other websites or online services. Our product analytics, session-replay, and error-monitoring tools are used for analytics, product improvement, security, and troubleshooting as described below.

Using automatic collection technologies helps us to improve our Services and to deliver a better and more personalized experience.

The technologies and providers we use for automatic data collection may include:

  • Cookies and Similar Storage. We use cookies and similar browser storage for login sessions, user preferences, community access, analytics, and attribution. For example, we and our service providers use cookies, local storage, and session storage to maintain user sessions, support Platform functionality, remember preferences, facilitate community features, perform analytics, and attribute referrals. Circle and other third-party providers may also use cookies or similar technologies in connection with their services.
  • Pixels, Web Beacons, and Analytics. We use Meta Pixel on certain marketing pages for page-view and conversion tracking. We also use analytics, session-replay, and application-monitoring tools to understand how users interact with the Platform, improve functionality, diagnose errors, monitor performance, and support security and troubleshooting. These tools may collect information regarding your interactions with the Platform and may incorporate privacy controls such as data masking or similar safeguards.

To the extent any of these automated technologies are considered a personal data sale, targeted advertising, or profiling, under applicable laws, depending on where you live, you may opt out from use of these automated technologies for such uses by submitting a request by emailing legal@suedehome.com. Please note that some Services features may be unavailable as a result.

When you interact with the Services, third parties may use automatic collection technologies to collect information about you or your device. These third parties may include analytics, advertising, session-replay, error-monitoring, authentication, community-platform, affiliate-network, device, internet-service, and mobile-service providers.

  • Advertisers, ad networks, and ad servers.
  • Analytics companies.
  • Your device manufacturer.
  • Your internet or mobile service provider.

These third parties may process information to provide analytics, advertising measurement, session replay, error monitoring, authentication, community features, affiliate attribution, fraud prevention, and related services. For affiliate links, Suede may redirect users through networks such as Skimlinks, digidip, Rakuten, or Amazon Associates. Those networks may set their own cookies to attribute purchases, and Suede may provide a coded identifier associated with the applicable Designer, project, and link, but not the identity of the person who clicked.

We do not control these third parties’ tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly.

From Other Business Partners and Service Providers

We may receive personal data about you from service providers and business partners that support the Platform and Services, including email and communications providers, content-delivery services, payment processors, analytics providers, security and anti-fraud services, affiliate networks, and community-platform providers. We may combine this information with information we collect directly from you. We do not currently obtain personal data from data brokers.

How We Use Your Information

We do not use your personal data to train generalized artificial intelligence models unless expressly disclosed at the time of collection.
  • Promote our Services, business, and offerings by publishing advertising on our own Services and by placing ads on third parties’ services. We may use your information to model, segment, target, offer, market, and advertise our Services.

  • Notify you when Services updates are available and about changes to any products or services we offer or provide through them.

The usage information we collect, whether connected to your personal data or not, helps us improve our Services and deliver a better and more personalized experience by enabling us to:

  • Estimate our audience sizes and usage patterns.
  • Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize the Services according to your individual needs and interests.
  • Speed up your searches.
  • Recognize you when you return to our Services.

We may also use your information to contact you about goods and services that may be of interest to you. If you do not want us to use your information in this way, please check the relevant box located on the form on which we collect your data (the order form/registration form)/adjust your user preferences in your account profile. For more information, see Your Rights and Choices About Your Information.

We use mailing and delivery addresses to fulfill orders and support tax collection and compliance. We use IP addresses and approximate location derived from IP addresses for analytics, troubleshooting, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. We do not collect precise device location or use IP-derived location for advertising within the Platform.

We may also disclose personal data that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • To Designers, clients, vendors, and other users of the Platform when necessary to facilitate transactions, project management, communications, product procurement, deliveries, marketing support requested or authorized through the Services, or other Services requested by you. This may include project materials and visual content submitted through the Platform.
  • To contractors, Payment Processors, cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, communications providers, authentication providers, security and fraud-prevention vendors, shipping and logistics providers, and other service providers that help us operate the Platform and provide the Services and that are contractually required to protect personal data and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Suede’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal data held by Suede is among the assets transferred.
  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. For example, if you give us an email address to use the “email a friend” feature of our Services, we will transmit the contents of that email and your email address to the recipients.
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • With your consent.

We may also disclose your personal data:

The categories of personal data we may disclose include:

  • Account and contact information.

  • Images, photographs, renderings, project inspiration materials, room photographs, mood boards, product images, and other visual content submitted through the Platform or in connection with the Services.

Your Rights and Choices About Your Information

This section describes mechanisms you can use to control certain uses and disclosures of your information and rights you may have under state law, depending on where you live.

Advertising, marketing, cookies, and other tracking technologies choices:

  • Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies or other tracking technology files, or to alert you when these files are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies or similar tracking files, some Services features may be inaccessible or not function properly. Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that can send a signal to the online services you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, our Services may not respond to all browser DNT signals. Instead, you can use the range of other tools to control data collection and use, including the cookie controls and advertising controls described in this policy.
  • Marketing Communications. We may send promotional emails and other marketing communications. You may opt out by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the communication or by contacting us at legal@suedehome.com. Even if you opt out of promotional communications, we may continue to send non-promotional messages regarding your account, transactions, or our ongoing business relationship.

Clipper & Browser Extension Policy

By using any browser extension made available to you by us through the Platform or in connection with the Services, including the Suede Home, Inc. Clipper Chrome browser extension (“Clipper”), you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information received by us as described in this privacy policy and as further described in this “Browser Extension Policy” section. If anything in this section conflicts with the general privacy policy as it relates to the extension, this section shall control.

Clipper Data Access

When you click the “Clipper” toolbar icon on a web page, the extension obtains access to:

  • The URL of the page; and
  • The HTML of the page.

The Clipper does not:

  • Have access to pages where you haven’t clicked the icon;
  • Track which sites you visit;
  • Run in the background;
  • Run analytics or telemetry;
  • Serve advertisements or direct ad targeting; or
  • Sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties (except the Anthropic Sub-Processor, as described below).

Clipper Data Sharing

When using Clipper, if you click “Clip this page” while browsing any website, the website page URL and HTML are sent over HTTPS to Suede’s servers. Our servers parse the page for product details (name, brand, price, images, dimensions, etc.) and return the result for you to confirm.

Every clip also forwards a truncated, high-signal slice of the page HTML to Anthropic’s Claude API (the “Anthropic Subprocessor”). Anthropic cleans the product description, extracts option axes (color, size, etc.), and fills any fields the deterministic parsers missed. Anthropic processes the content under their commercial terms and does not retain it for model training.

When you click “Save to library” through Clipper, the confirmed product data is written to your Suede account.

Clipper Data Storage

Your Suede authentication session is stored in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so you don’t have to sign in for every clip. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted elsewhere, and is cleared when you sign out from the popup or uninstall the extension.

While you have a clip open, the extension also caches the scraped product details and your in-progress edits to the confirm sheet (name, brand, price, dimensions, notes) in Chrome’s session storage (chrome.storage.session). This is what lets you reopen the popup mid-edit without losing your work. Session storage is in-memory, scoped to your browsing session, and cleared automatically when you close the browser.

Chrome permissions

Clipper requests only those permissions reasonably necessary to allow users to capture product information from webpages and save that information to their Suede account. The permissions requested by the extension are used solely to provide and support the functionality of the Clipper and are not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or unrelated tracking purposes.

Deleting your Clipper data

Product information and content saved through Clipper may be removed by deleting the corresponding items from your Suede account. Locally stored extension session information can be removed by signing out of the extension or uninstalling it from your browser. Upon account deletion, we will process information associated with your account in accordance with our retention practices described in this Privacy Policy.

International Users

The Services are primarily offered within the United States. We do not currently market or direct the Services to individuals located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland. If you have a privacy-related question or request, please contact us at legal@suedehome.com.

Your State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residency, you may have certain rights related to your personal data, including:

  • Access and Data Portability. You may confirm whether we process your personal data and access a copy of the personal data we process. To the extent feasible and required by applicable state law, data will be provided in a portable format. Depending on your state, you may have the right to receive additional information and it will be included in the response to your access request.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccuracies in your personal data that we maintain, taking into account the information’s nature and processing purpose.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete personal data about you that we maintain, subject to certain exceptions under applicable law.
  • Opt Out of Using Personal Data for Targeted Advertising, Profiling, and Sales. You may request that we do not use your personal data for these purposes.

Important: The exact scope of these rights varies by state. There are also several exceptions where we may not have an obligation to fulfill your request.

To exercise any of these rights, please submit a request by emailing legal@suedehome.com. To appeal a decision regarding a consumer rights request, you may email legal@suedehome.com with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line.

Some browsers and browser extensions support the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) that can send a signal to process your request to opt out from certain types of data processing, including data “sales” as defined under certain laws. When we detect such a signal, we will make reasonable efforts to respect your choices indicated by a GPC setting as required by applicable law.

How We Protect Your Personal Data

We use commercially reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures designed to protect your personal data from accidental loss or destruction and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no website, mobile application, system, electronic storage, or online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal data transmitted to, through, using, or in connection with the Services. In particular, email, texts, and chats sent to or from the Services may not be secure, and you should carefully decide what information you send to us via such communications channels. Any transmission of personal data is at your own risk.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. You are responsible for taking steps to protect your personal data against unauthorized use, disclosure, and access.

How We Retain Your Personal Data

We keep the categories of personal data described in this policy for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described or for as otherwise legally permitted or required, such as maintaining the Services, operating our organization, complying with our legal obligations, resolving disputes, and for safety, security, and fraud prevention. This means that we consider our legal and business obligations, potential risks of harm, and nature of the information when deciding how long to retain personal data. At the end of the retention period, personal data will be deleted, destroyed, or deidentified.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, and we will provide notice of any such changes to the policy as required by law. The date the privacy policy was last updated is identified at the top of the page. We will notify you of changes to this policy by updating the “last updated” date and posting the updated policy on the Services. We may email or otherwise communicate reminders about this policy, but you should check our Services periodically to see the current policy and any changes we have made to it.
